Results of the XIX Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema

    The results of the XIX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, held in the capital of Tatarstan from September 5 to 9, were summed up last Saturday. The short-list of the festival included 52 films from 21 countries: Russia, Iran, Syria, India, Iraq, Morocco, Tajikistan, Turkey, Greece, Oman, Kyrgyzstan, Tunisia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, Senegal, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Algeria. The Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova expressed her opinion that the experience gained over the years of the KMFMK will motivate the development of young filmmakers.

    The Grand Prix in the nomination "Best Feature Film" as well as last year was awarded to a film from Iran. Motion picture "Without prior arrangement" by Iranian director Behrouz Shoaibi received a certificate worth one million rubles.

    The main prize was awarded by the head of the jury, Senegalese director Moussa Touré.

    Vasil Shaikhraziev, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Festival, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, expressed gratitude to the participants at the closing ceremony on behalf of the Government of Tatarstan and the Organizing Committee of the Film Festival, noted that the completed film forum gives a start to the jubilee XX KMFMK, and stressed that the festival contributes to strengthening the foundation of "relations between the Muslim world and our great Russia".

    On behalf of the President of the Film Festival, Head of the Muslims of Russia Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, Deputy Chairman of the CMR, Chairman of the Moscow NCAT Farit Farisov presented the prize of the DUM of the Russian Federation to the Executive Director of the KMFMK Milyausha Aituganova "for many years of successful creative activity in the field of culture and arts, for the great contribution to the development of the cinematography of Tatarstan, for true dedication and high professionalism".

    Bakhtiyer Karimov and Mukhiddin Muzaffar received the KMFMK prize for "Best Screenplay of a Feature Film" for "Fortuna" (Tajikistan). The picture shows Tajikistan on the eve of Independence. The test for Kahkhor and Mannon, two old friends, is a lucky lottery ticket given to one of them instead of a salary.

    Pavel Medvedev was recognized as "Best Cinematographer of a Feature Film" for the film "Ada" (Russia).

    Vaggelio Andreaki won in the category "Best Actor in a Feature Film" for the movie "Dignity" (Greece).

    Pegah Ahangarani, who played in the movie "No Arrangement" (Iran), was named Best Actress. 
<br>
<br>
    The film "Bebia, Babua, Anzorik, Me and Mama" (Russia) directed by Raul Heydarov was recognized as the best in the category "Best Short Feature Film".

<br>
    Tatarstan's film "823rd Kilometer" by Irek Khafizov and Amir Galiaskarov, presented in the main competition category of the festival, won the Audience Award. Among the nominees of the XIX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival are films from Tajikistan, India, Greece, Algeria and other countries.
