Digital healthcare in Russia is actively developing. According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, an online appointment with a doctor is among the top most popular services for Gosuslugi (State Services) users in 2022. Medical organizations in Russia are switching on to electronic document management: the number of medical documents registered at the federal level already now reaches 2 million per day. Medical community of the Russian Federation is extremely interested in artificial intelligence technologies: educational programs in data science and big data are introduces in medical universities.

Leading experts in digital healthcare of the Russian Federation discussed trends and tendencies in the digital transformation of the industry and exchanged experience in implementing and creating digital solutions for doctors and patients with representatives of the Muslim world.

In 2021, Russia approved, the Strategy for the Digital Transformation of Healthcare in the Russian Federation.

“Healthcare” domain unites public authorities of all levels and legal entities performing functions in the same field of activity and providing a set of services and data to the client.

The growing use of modern information technologies was noted as a trend: introduction of chat bots, virtual nurses, big data analysis, application of block chain technologies, and use of virtual reality technologies is expanding.

The following benefits of healthcare digitalization were also discussed:

  • The increase of diagnostics accuracy;

  • The quality of medical care improvement;

  • The improved access to healthcare;

  • The reduction of health care costs;

  • Increased efficiency of healthcare;

  • AI helps to make medical systems smarter;

  • Remote patient monitoring brings the hospital closer to one’s home.

According to the WEF report on the future of jobs by 2025, about 85 million people will be displaced due to technology application; at the same time 97 million new jobs will be created. Thus, there is a gap of 12 million people which needs to be filled by a workforce ready for the world digitalization.
