In recent years, Russian companies have been actively developing technology for the production of medium and small-capacity chemicals, equipment for the oil and gas sector and the chemical industry. By 2023, Russian companies have generated solutions which are comparable in quality to the level of the leading engineering companies in the EU and the US, and are ready to discuss the possibility of their manufacturing and exporting. At the same time, in 2022 there occurred radical changes in the supply chains, the ecosystem of suppliers for Russian companies, which opened up access to this market for new players from friendly countries.

Pavel Lyakhovich, Managing Director of Sibur, AO, noted that the Company has restructured its export program with a focus on new markets, including the countries of the Islamic world. In 2022, the company exported 500 thousand tons of products to these countries, and in 2023 this volume may double. “We are planning to increase 5 times our sales to some countries this year as compared to the last year. And it is just the beginning, as we not only have a current portfolio, but we are also building new production facilities. No matter, how much someone could be against it, but we are developing and building new capacities,” he stressed.

Mahmut Rufat Nakhidovich, General Director of SOCAR Rus, OOO, reported on two main activities of the Azerbaijan Company: trading in oil products on the Russian market and selling Socar Polymer products manufactured in Azerbaijan. The capacity of the Sokar Polymer plant reaches 180 thousand tons of raw materials per year. At that, 60% of products are sold in Russia. In addition, the company carries out oil refining, produces polymers, and invests in infrastructure, in particular, in the development of ports in Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. The company also sells products of partners, in particular of SIBUR Company.

The Nefis Company covers 25% of the Russian market’s demand in household chemicals. It is the only manufacturer of fatty acids in Russia; its sales occupy 70% of the market. According to Ilfat Salikhov, the Sales Director of Nefis Cosmetics, AO, next year, the Company plans to increase sales amount of powdered laundry detergent in neighboring countries by 10 times. Sales in the CIS countries in 2022 amounted to 200 million rubles. The company has a closed production cycle, including formulation development, production of surfactants, containers and final products. A new plant for manufacturing of powdered laundry detergent with unique consumer properties is soon to be launched.

Sergey Utrobin, Director of the Advanced Dynamic Equipment Department of Atomenergomash, AO, said that the Company is ready to produce unique equipment for the fuel and energy complex for export, including to the countries of the Islamic world. The Company also offers unique non-standard samples of dynamic equipment, which is used for various technological processes in the oil and gas industry, including for the production and transportation of liquefied natural gas. Such pumps can pump media with different properties without the risk of leakage of harmful substances into the environment due to tightness and the absence of a lubrication system and seals. Sergey Utrobin said that the existing developments and technological capabilities will enable Russia in the future to switch totally to domestic equipment in the gas and petrochemical sector.

Bakyt Uskenbaev, the Director of Alliance Product, Kyrgyzstan, noted that the bureaucracy of logistics rules is hindering efficient logistics. In addition, the availability of Russian rail transport is decreasing, especially during the harvest season. Every year the cost of transit through Kazakhstan is growing, which affects the price of supplied products. The speaker believes that these problems can be solved at the level of the governments of Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

Anton Maksimov, Director of the IPS RAS, urges, if possible, to abstain from purchasing joint technologies, but to establish cooperation with the countries of the Islamic world for their joint development. IPS RAS is a leading Research Institute for the development of technology in chemistry, petro-chemistry and membrane technology for the production and processing of polymers. The Institute is developing technology for manufacturing of such products as alkylated gasoline, ethylbenzene, chlorohydrin, epoxy resins, and processing of natural gas with minimal carbon dioxide emissions.

The Etton Group of Companies is engaged in the creation of digital solutions for the oil and gas industry for hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves. According to Aleksey Chibrin, Development Director of Etton Group of Companies, the developments are aimed at calculating technological reserves, cumulative production and potential. This will allow oil producing companies to maintain high rates of hydrocarbon production reduce costs and reduce the time of implementation of various business processes.

Orgneftekhim-Holding is the parent company of the Group, which ensures the implementation of full-cycle projects in the field of oil refining and petro-chemistry from the development of a conceptual idea, design, construction, to the commissioning of an object. Aleksander Babynin, General Director of Orgneftekhim-Holding, OOO, said that in the course of implementing its own EPC projects, a number of specialized software products were developed for project management and engineering calculations, including those based on virtual reality technologies which the Holding can offer to its clients.
