Description:

The current situation in the participating countries and the prospects for solving reproductive health issues and implementing measures to reduce maternal, perinatal, infant morbidity and mortality were considered during the session.

In particular, special attention was paid to the problems of infertility, risks to the life of the mother and child, the main pathologies and disorders in newborns and the causes of infant mortality.

The speakers announced the main directions, programs and a set of multidisciplinary and multifactorial measures in the field of perinatal, neonatal and maternal mortality reduction, including the development of fetal medicine and neonatal surgery.

The experience of Kazakhstan was presented at the Forum; state programs are being adopted in the field of supporting women's health: the Concept for the Development of the Maternal and Child Health Service in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2030 has been developed; the All-Republican Coordinating Center for the provision of gynecological care to girls and adolescents has been established; a road map was developed to improve pediatric gynecology in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022–2026.

Fetal surgery is developing in Uzbekistan; only in 2022, 10 such operations have been performed.

Tatarstan has a regional national project “Development of children's healthcare, including the creation of a modern infrastructure for providing medical care to children.” The goal of the project is to reduce infant mortality in the Republic of Tatarstan to 4.2 (per 1,000 live births) by 2024.

The strategy for 2023 includes increasing the scale (30%) and effectiveness (25%) of existing successful international projects aimed at reducing perinatal losses.

Among the observed trends, the speakers noted a decrease in the number of women of a fertile age and a decrease in the birth rate.

The following tasks were identified as the primary ones:

  • Creation of a preventive model for maintaining a reproductive health: the dispensary principle of identifying and managing patients with impaired reproductive health, the formation of continuity and an interdisciplinary approach in preserving a reproductive health;

  • Reducing the number of abortions through measures aimed at maintaining pregnancy;

  • Availability, efficiency and safety of medical care for reproductive health disorders, including high-tech medical care;

  • Practice-oriented training, including advanced training;

  • Patient orientation.

There is an urgent need in Kyrgyzstan, to adopt a national quality strategy and vision with clearly defined priorities and a roadmap to coordinate and inform quality improvement activities throughout the system.

The Kyrgyz Republic should develop strategies and policies that prioritize specific areas, and then scale up approaches after establishing a quality improvement base with sufficient experience and knowledge.
