First Day Results from the XVI International Economic Forum ‘‘Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum’’ 2025
15 مايوThe grand opening of KAZAN HALAL MARKET International Trade Fair, which took place at Kazan Agro-Industrial Park, became one of the highlight events of the first day. The solemn ceremony was attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan; Mahmut Gürcan, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey; Moteb Al Mezani, Director General of the Gulf Co-Operation Council (GCC) Accreditation Centre; Ilya Ilyushin, Head of Agroexport Federal Centre; Kamil Samigullin, Chairman of the Spiritual Muslim Board of the Republic of Tatarstan; and other distinguished guests. The Fair features 150 companies from 9 countries: Russia, Turkey, Iran, India, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, UAE, as well as 16 constituent subjects of the Russian Federation.
The Forum also houses RUSSIA HALAL EXPO International Exhibition for eight consecutive years, this year aggregating 54 booths from 12 countries, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Morocco, UAE, Iran, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Senegal. Alongside that, the Exhibition furnished booths from 11 Russian regions: Republic of Tatarstan; Moscow; Kirov region; Mordovia; Donetsk People’s Republic; Vologda, Penza, Arkhangelsk, and Nizhny Novgorod regions; Karachay-Cherkess Republic; and Astrakhan region.
International Property Market Exhibition 2025, held within the framework of KazanForum for the second year in a row, also attracted special attention of the Forum participants. The Exhibition took place on an area of more than 1,000 sq. m. and gathered 57 companies, including 29 real estate and property developers. Companies from Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the UAE presented their work. The IPM 2025 Business Programme engaged representatives from the UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, India, Malaysia, Central Asia, and Africa. Mohamed Talaat, founder of MT Architects (Egypt); Javad Eiraji, president of TraMod ACADEMY for Studying Interactions between Tradition and Modernity in Architecture and Design (Iran); Ali Alraouf, Qatari architect and urban designer; and Lilly Walaa Mohamed Ghorab, founder of Mediterranean Design Lounge (Egypt), were among the first day speakers.
A significant cultural and gastronomic event was the opening of the International Tournament of Young Chefs of Islamic Countries named after Yunus Akhmetzyanov. Representatives from 16 countries, including debutants from Saudi Arabia, are taking part in the competition.
Furthermore, International Kids Football Tournament “Eastern Cup” kicked off within the framework of the Forum as well, featuring teams from Oman, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan. Following the sports session of the Business Programme, a memorandum on co-operation between Rubin Football Club and football clubs of OIC countries was signed.
The first day was rounded off by Modest Fashion Day Festival of Decent Fashion, which was held in Kazan for the seventh time. Eight designers from 7 countries showcased their collections to the public. Russian fashion was represented by MIN_ZIFA (Ufa) and MARGA (Vladivostok). Other participants included Danjyo Hiyoji (Indonesia), Aadima (Qatar), Atiya Khan (Pakistan), Shehna Hussain (UAE), Amal Al Raisi (Oman), and Umed Kuchkaliev (Tajikistan).
The first day of the Forum confirmed the growing interest in partnership between Russia and the Islamic world, emphasising the relevance and value of the chosen co-operation areas in the economy, culture, sport, and arts and humanities.
The Roscongress Foundation acts as the Operator for the preparation and holding of KazanForum 2025.
