Africa in Kazan: 2026 KazanForum to Host Burkina Faso Exhibition
The exhibition “The Land of Honest People: Traditional Sculpture of Burkina Faso” has opened at the Gallery of Contemporary Art.

The Exhibition features works by 34 sculptors with around 60 bronze pieces created using traditional Burkinabe techniques. The total weight of the showcased figures exceeds one tonne.

“Bronze serves as one of Burkina Faso’s signature mediums, well known far beyond the country itself. The focus of this particular exposition is centred on the image of women as the embodiment of family and stability,” Anna Ilyina, the Exhibition’s curator, noted.

The display will form a part of 2026 KazanForum’s cultural programme, reflecting
the development of humanitarian co operation between Russia and African countries.
The works place special emphasis on the image of women, thus resonating with the agenda of the “Women’s Perspective” track, which will take place at the Forum and will address the role women play in the economy and international co operation.

The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism of Burkina Faso will also contribute to the Forum’s business programme, speaking at a session dedicated to the cultural diplomacy between Russia and Africa.

The Exhibition and Forum events act as a valuable space for promoting cultural dialogue and launching new international initiatives.
