Pressing matters on cooperation between Russia and UAE were the key topics of discussion during meetings between the Russian Government and Middle Eastern state’s leadership
18 FebruaryThe meeting addressed pressing matters on cooperation between Russia and the UAE across trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian landscape.
Denis Manturov extended the greetings and best wishes for the UAE’s further development to Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan from Vladimir Putin, President of Russia. In turn, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan gave his regards to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing his hope for further development and prosperity of Russia and its people.
Denis Manturov noted the dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism. According to the results of last year, the number of Russian tourists who visited the UAE approached 2 million. There is a growing interest in Russia from Emirati citizens as well: more than 67 thousand tourists from the UAE visited the country in 2024. The expansion of through air service contributes to the increase in tourist exchanges. Currently, there are over 300 regular passenger flights between Russian cities and the UAE per week, which is 1.5 times more than six months ago. Moreover, the flight map is increasing, too, making up 25 routes already today.
The meeting also discussed cooperation in the field of sport, including the holding of the second International multisport tournament “Games of the Future” in 2025 in the Emirates (the first tournament was held in Kazan in 2024 on the instructions of the Russian President Vladimir Putin). Denis Manturov noted the readiness of Russia to share its experience and provide maximum assistance in organising the Games.
Particular attention is paid to cooperation in higher education, and active work is underway to open the Russian University in Abu Dhabi.
A day earlier, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister met with Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting was also attended by Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of Russia, and Elvira Nabiullina, Governor of the Central Bank of Russia.
The participants discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the topic of mutual settlements and cooperation in finance and banking.
Matters on cooperation between Russia and the United Arab Emirates in various fields are raised annually at the business programme sessions during the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”.
