Business programme architecture released for 16th ‘Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum’ International Economic Forum
The architecture of the business programme for the 16th ‘Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum’ International Economic Forum, which will take place on 13–18 May at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, has been released on the Forum’s official website. The main theme of the Forum in 2025 is ‘Digitalization: New Reality and Additional Opportunities for Expanding Cooperation’.

The KazanForum business programme will consist of several thematic tracks: international cooperation, tourism, transport, medicine, economics, global challenges, Islamic finance and investment, construction, education, culture, sports, the halal industry, youth entrepreneurship and diplomacy, and more. The plenary session will be the central event of the business programme.

“At present, cooperation with Islamic states is a key strategic focus that could contribute to the creation of a new model of international relations in a multipolar world. In this regard, the KazanForum serves as a practical platform for establishing interaction and exchanging experience with the Islamic business community of other countries. This year, the Forum programme will encompass all areas of the current agenda and interaction between the countries of the Islamic world. I am certain that, as always, the Forum’s work will be substantive and constructive, will be held in the spirit of openness and trust, and per tradition will open the path to the implementation of numerous new joint projects,” Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov said.

The Forum sessions will focus on the development of multimodal transport corridors, tourism, the export of Russian halal products, economic security, partnership financing, as well as industrial, technological, educational, cultural, and youth projects. The programme includes a total of around 120 thematic sessions that will be attended by experts from Russian regions, nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other countries.

Other events that will be held as part of the Forum include the Russia-Malaysia and Russia-Kazakhstan country-based roundtables, the Russia-Iran industrial dialogue, a meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as a number of international meetings at various levels, including meetings of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, the North-South Caspian International Integration Club, a meeting of ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiaries of foreign states in Russia, the Congress of OIC Ministers of Culture, and other events.

The Russia Halal Expo, the largest international exhibition of investment and infrastructure projects in Russia, will also take place at the KazanForum. Bilateral business meetings of companies from Russia and OIC countries will be held on the sidelines of the Forum as part of economic, scientific, and technological cooperation.

In addition, the Forum will include the Kazan Halal Market international trade fair, the largest halal trading platform in Russia, where products from leading manufacturing companies from the Islamic world will be presented.

“In 2025, the ‘Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum’ International Economic Forum will be held for the 16th time. In the current conditions, this platform is becoming increasingly popular by truly bringing Russia and Muslim countries closer together. These aren’t just words; this is a reality that is backed up by figures. Over the past year, trade turnover with OIC countries increased by 30%. This year, the movement towards rapprochement with the countries of the Islamic world at the KazanForum will continue. I am certain that we have numerous common interests in all areas – from trade and investment to sports and tourism,” Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Russia – Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, and Deputy Chairman of the KazanForum Federal Organizing Committee Rustam Minnikhanov said.

In addition to the business component, the Forum participants and guests of the Tatarstan capital will enjoy an eventful cultural and exhibition programme that includes a festival of cuisines from Islamic countries, the Yunus Akhmetzyanov tournament of young chefs from Russia and Islamic countries, a festival of oriental culture at Kazan Federal University, the Modest Fashion Day festival, the ‘Echo of Centuries in Family History – Tarikhta Bez Ezlebez’ genealogy festival, performances, exhibitions at Kazan theatres and museums, a friendly football match, and much more.
