Kazan Expo hosted Fashion Iftar 2025
21 MarchOrange was declared the main colour of this year’s Event. According to Dzhannat Mingazova, fashion expert, stylist, and co-organiser of the Fashion Iftar project, interest in decent fashion is growing rapidly:
“It’s the ninth time we held Fashion Iftar. The Event has become so popular that tickets sold out on the first day. I believe that the Republic of Tatarstan hosts one of the most beautiful Iftars in our country. This year’s colour was chosen for a reason: it reflects the richness of Eastern culture, the shades of the desert, and symbolises warmth and energy.”
Radik Abdrakhmanov, co-organiser of the project, noted that even secular designers are starting to create collections in the modest fashion style:
“We can see today how following Islamic values is becoming an important trend not only in clothing, but in business as well. For example, one of the Russian banks that joined in and launched an Islamic finance programme became our partner this year.”
Local designers –– including Buro Banu, famous Kazan brand –– presented their collections at Fashion Iftar. Designer Elara Shayhi spoke about her collection “The Time of Meanings”, inspired by the XIX century traditional Tatar costume:
“We debuted this collection at 2024 KazanForum. The music was written specifically for the show and based on the theme of love from Farid Yarullin’s ballet “Shurale”. The interest in Tatar designers is obviously growing: we recently presented our costumes in Malaysia, and even left one as a gift. Designers all over the world draw inspiration from the similar values: to pass on a piece of history and culture to the next generation. When I see such a message in the collection of a designer from another country, I feel as if I have found a soulmate.”
The guests remarked on the exceptional ambience of the Event.
“This is not just a fashion evening, but a grand women’s club where you can feel the genial support of kindred spirits,” enthused Gulnara Shamsutdinova, who visited Fashion Iftar for the third time.
Keep in mind another significant fashion event of this season: Modest Fashion Day, the Festival of Decent Fashion, that awaits us in May 2025. The show will take place for the seventh time within the framework of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, featuring the best decent fashion designers who will present their new collections inspired by unique culture and centuries-old traditions. Last year, Modest Fashion Day hosted 10 shows by designers from Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, UAE, Russia, Senegal, and France. In 2025, KazanForum will again lend a professional platform for the development and support of brands working in this fast-growing segment.
