The parties discussed the deepening of sports co-operation, highlighting the strong partnership relationships between the countries. This area was also emphasised by Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, during the SCO Summit in Astana.
The Qatari Ambassador commended the contribution of Russian specialists to the preparation of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and expressed interest in joint work on summer Olympic sports.
Furthermore, the State of Qatar was invited to send students to study at Russian sports universities with grant support, including for the Master of Sports Administration international master’s programme.
A football tournament will be held as part of KazanForum, featuring young diplomats from the countries within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). This event will unite representatives of different nations, using sport to create a sense of friendship and collaboration.
