Marat Khusnullin Held the Meeting of the “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” Organising Committee
17 April“KazanForum is not just an economic platform; it is also an impactful space for fostering dialogue between different states and an important tool for promoting the interests of the business community as well as promoting our culture and our values. The Forum provides an opportunity to send a message that Russia is a strong and independent state that is committed to traditional values, and, at the same time, tolerant and open to co-operation. This year’s event will have a federal status for the third time as decided by the President of the country. It stands to mention that this Forum bears a special significance as it is held in the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and immediately after the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory. The business programme and all events of the Forum should be of an applicable nature and aimed at achieving specific results. The last Forum was a success. About 87 countries along with 87 regions of Russia took part in it, and more than 120 agreements were concluded. It is extremely important to carry out this year’s events at a top-notch level,” Marat Khusnullin, Chairman of the Organising Committee, said.
Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan and Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee, drew attention of the Meeting participants to the fact that the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” will commence in less than a month. This year the Forum will be held from 13 to 18 May.
“We are putting the final touches to the Event. The Business Programme of the 16th Forum is diverse and rich. The theme of the plenary session is ‘Digitalization: New Reality and Additional Opportunities for Expanding Co-Operation’. More than 130 events will be held on the most relevant topics. Work is underway to organise the visit of guests who have confirmed their participation. We count on the assistance of the Organising Committee members in attracting the widest range of participants from the countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. I am sure that the upcoming Forum will be arranged at a high and decent level thanks to our joint efforts,” Rustam Minnikhanov stated.
Among other things, the Forum will host the Russia Halal Expo Exhibition, the International Property Market Exhibition and Conference on Real Estate, and the Malaysia Urban Forum. Furthermore, a youth-oriented meeting of “Russia – Islamic World” Strategic Vision Group is planned on the site of the Bashir Rameev IT Park, whereas the XXXVIII International Festival of Classical Ballet named after Rudolf Nureyev will be held as part of the cultural programme.
According to Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chairman –– Executive Secretary of the Organising Committee of the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” presents an effective mechanism for implementing the country’s foreign policy towards the Islamic course as the number of business ties between Russia and the Islamic world is growing from year to year and the number of international investment projects is increasing as well. This shows the importance of developing this discussion platform, promoting and implementing the decisions made at it.
“In addition to preparing the Forum Business Programme, critical work is being done to organise meetings of the Working Groups: on the development of mutual tourism within the framework of the Russian-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Technical Co-Operation; on the production sector as part of the Mixed Russian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Co-Operation; and a meeting of the Qatari Working Group on Tourism, which are scheduled within the framework of the Forum. The halal certificates of compliance obtained by the Forum’s venue, “Kazan Expo” International Exhibition Centre, and the Forum’s Operator, Roscongress Foundation, allow the Forum to comply with all international norms and standards for holding high-level events aimed at the followers of the Islamic confession,” Anton Kobyakov noted.
