SPB Exchange to Discuss Introduction of Islamic Finance Standards during Kazan Forum

AO ‘‘SPB Exchange’’ (Saint Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange, SPIMEX) together with the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency will hold a theme session on Islamic finance instruments at the International Economic Forum ‘‘Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum’’.

The session ‘‘Islamic Finance Instruments at the Commodity Exchange: Platform for Developing Trade Relations between Russia and the OIC Countries’’ will take place on 16 May. Using the platform of the SPB Exchange, the Event will address the possibilities of introducing Islamic finance instruments and building trade according to Shari’ah rules.

Furthermore, the session Organisers plan to discuss the impact of Islamic finance mechanisms on the Russian financial system, including their potential to attract foreign investment. Special attention will be paid to the application of such instruments as Commodity Murabahah, which can aid in the development of trade between Russia and the countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Delegates from Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey will present their experience in structuring trades according to Islamic standards.
