Kazan Halal Market, International Halal Fair, opened at KazanForum 2025

Kazan Halal Market, the country’s largest halal fair, was inaugurated at Kazan Agro-Industrial Park as part of the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”. The Event brought together over 150 participants from 16 regions of the Russian Federation and 9 foreign countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Iran, and India. More than 40 thousand people are expected to visit the Fair during its six days of operation.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by Distinguished Guests of the Forum. Among the officials were Mahmut Gürcan, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey; Moteb Al Mezani, Director General of the Gulf Co-Operation Council (GCC) Accreditation Centre; Ilya Ilyushin, Head of Agroexport Federal Centre; Kamil Samigullin, Chairman of the Spiritual Muslim Board of the Republic of Tatarstan; and representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.

A wide range of products certified according to international halal standards is presented throughout the exhibition: food, clothing, beauty and makeup products, accessories, and consumer goods. The Fair has become not just a business but a cultural platform as well: here, international ties are established, negotiations are held between producers and buyers, and prospects for developing the export potential of halal products are discussed.

Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, emphasised the importance of the halal industry for the region and the whole country: “Today, halal is a whole philosophy of life, reflecting deep spiritual and cultural values. This system unites millions of people around the world, and Tatarstan attaches special importance to supporting and promoting the halal industry.”

He also added: “We are grateful to the Federal Government for supporting the Forum. KazanForum has been organised as a federal-level event for the third year in a row, and this emphasises the significance of developing Russia’s relations with the Islamic world.”

According to data for 2024, the volume of halal exports from Tatarstan totalled $14 million, showing an increase of more than 21% year-on-year. According to the results of the first four months of 2025, exports have already exceeded $8 million. Dairy, meat, and confectionery products form the basis of the supplies.

The Fair will run from 13 to 18 May, starting at 08:00 and up to 19:00.
