Secretary of the Embassy of Cameroon Samuel Ndicho Bambo: “KazanForum Helps Diplomats to Understand Each Other Better”

The achievements and work of young diplomats in the modern concept of a multipolar world were discussed at the specialised press conference within the framework of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2025”. The discussion was attended by Ekaterina Akopyan, Chairperson of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Dilbar Sadykova, Chairman of the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, Lahai Festus Djusu, Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Moscow and Samuel Ndicho Bambo, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Cameroon in Moscow.
“Today's young diplomats face many challenges. In Cameroon, we see the problems of the post-colonial period and the consequences of wars, and now the features associated with technological transformation are being added. It is important to balance the classical problems of the past and the challenges of the present. KazanForum allows diplomats to discuss world practices, make connections and helps to understand each other better. Previous generations of diplomats did not have such forums, so they had fewer opportunities to make direct contacts, however, connections are significant for diplomats, because friends and like-minded people never fight, it is always easy for them to find a common language,” said Samuel Ndicho Bambo.
Within the framework of KazanForum, the IX Forum of Young Diplomats of the OIC countries was also opened, dedicated to the topic “Diplomacy of Victory”. Since 2016, more than 250 diplomats from 45 countries have participated in the Forum of Young Diplomats. This year, 50 participants from 20 countries came to the Forum.
“Diplomacy is always a race for a long distance, so it is impossible to tear young people away from the older generation, it is important to maintain continuity. Digital transformation, the global world order and multilateral interaction are what we are discussing at the Forum so that everyone can speak as equals at the same table. Our main task is for young diplomats to come to Russia and fall in love with it, because it is very difficult not to fall in love with Kazan, for example”, Ekaterina Akopyan claimed.

The International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, which was granted federal status in 2022 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, is being held for the 16th time on 13-18 May 2025. The Programme includes 200 events such as a Congress of Ministers of Transport within the Islamic countries; a Congress of Ministers of Culture within the Islamic countries; a Congress of Prosecutors General within the Islamic countries; a Congress of Auditors within the Islamic countries; the world’s largest conference on Islamic finance; conferences on the halal industry; a forum of Chambers of Commerce and Industry within the Islamic countries; as well as international exhibitions on economy, trade, and real estate held over 40 thousand sq. m. Representatives from 103 countries registered to participate in 2025. In 2024, the Event gathered more than 20 thousand participants from 87 countries, 87 constituent subjects of the Russian Federation, along with more than 40 diplomatic missions.
