Thee Universities of Tatarstan Will Apply for the Establishment of the Advanced Engineering Schools
14 May“Currently, Tatarstan has five engineering schools in five universities. This is 10% of the total number in Russia. The first contest was held in 2022. Three universities applied for it and all of them opened advanced engineering schools as a result of the contest. These are Kazan Federal University, Kazan National Research Technological University and Innopolis University. The second contest was held in 2023-2024. Based on the results of the contest, schools were established at the Petroleum High School and Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev,” Yarullin said.
The project of the Advanced Petroleum Engineering School is being implemented by the Petroleum High School in cooperation with PAO Tatneft. The company acts as an industrial partner. Alexander Dyakonov, Rector of the Petroleum High School, Director of the Advanced Petroleum Engineering School said that an educational ecosystem has been created in Almetyevsk, which includes the development of engineering thinking in kindergartens and schools. When applying to a university, applicants come with an understanding of their future profession.
“As part of the Advanced Engineering School, I, together with the company, have created the image of future technologies. With this image in mind, we are training engineers who in 10-15 years will move Tatneft and the entire oil industry of our country to global positions. These specialists should become leaders in both scientific research and innovation, solving the problems faced by the world's oil companies,” said Dyakonov.
PAO KAMAZ acts as the main technological partner of Cyber Auto Tech AES. The School was established on the basis of the Kazan Federal University Naberezhnye Chelny branch. Ksenia Gavarieva, Head of the Cyber Auto Tech AES Educational Centre said that another partner is PAO Sollers: a student design bureau has been created for the company. Students prepare design documentation under the guidance of teachers and company representatives.
“We are actively working to teach a new type of engineering staff that will develop autonomous unmanned vehicles and highly efficient non-carbon fuel power plants. We are working in the field of digital modelling and management of production systems in the automotive industry. We are clearly working on the tasks given by our industrial partner,” Gavarieva said.
The Advanced Engineering School based in Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev operates in four areas: composite, additive, digital technologies and microelectronics, said Leonid Shabalin, Director of the Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev. The School has five industrial partners: United Construction Corporation, Russian Helicopters Holding Company, Ural Works of Civil Aviation, AO Micron and the Russian Federal Nuclear Centre.
“Interdisciplinarity in the broadest sense of the word is one of the key factors of training. We use a new model to train leaders in the transformation of the aerospace industry. Students participate in the product creation chain throughout the entire product lifecycle – from the development and research of materials to the testing of finished structures, their mass production and further operation, up to disposal. They acquire competencies in various fields – design, technological, calculation, managerial and economic," said Shabalin.
Anna Ebel, Head of the Department of Educational Programmes of the AESs, said that the Advanced Engineering School Promkhimtech, established on the basis of Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering, specialises in technologies for petrochemical industries – gas processing, production of mineral fertilisers and low-tonnage chemical products. The partners are PAO Sibur, PAO Gazprom, AO Ammonium, RTSIM IT company and System Solutions engineering company.
“We have invested in the creation of new scientific laboratories and modern educational spaces. This is a serious infrastructural reserve in the field of Chemistry and New Materials. This not only took the programmes to another level, but also allowed us to increase the R&D portfolio,” Ebel noted.
