Businesses from Afghanistan Will Be Helped to Enter the Russian Market

Businesses from Afghanistan will be assisted in studying the regulations and requirements in force in Russia so that entrepreneurs can freely enter the Russian market. This was announced by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, on the side-lines of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”.
“Today we have held the first Russian-Afghan Business Forum. The meeting, which took place on the side-lines of KazanForum, showed that our countries have a great mutual interest in developing trade and economic ties and realising the transport and logistics potential of Afghanistan as a country that connects the North of Eurasia, the Eurasian Economic Union with the countries of the Global South, primarily with Pakistan and India,” Alexey Overchuk declared.
According to him, Afghanistan is interested in bringing agricultural products, dried fruits and nuts to the Russian market. In this regard, at the Forum special attention was paid to the discussion of issues related to customs and sanitary control.
Alexey Overchuk noted that the existing road network today allows freight traffic through the territory of Afghanistan between Russia and Pakistan. According to him, freight traffic on this route will grow. In addition, the Deputy Chairman of the Government recalled that today Russian and Uzbek specialists are developing a feasibility study for the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway, which will become an offshoot of the North-South international transport corridor.
Within the framework of the Russian-Afghan Business Forum, issues related to rare earth metals were also discussed, Alexey Overchuk noted. He highlighted that the Russian Federation has the necessary competencies for geological exploration.
“In the Soviet Union, we studied the territory of Afghanistan. Of course, some content needs to be updated. We are also talking about this,” said the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, which was granted federal status in 2022 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, is being held for the 16th time on 13-18 May 2025.
