Russia and Qatar are Preparing to Sign a Tourism Development Agreement
In 2024, mutual tourist flow between Russia and Qatar increased by 26% to approximately 120,000 trips. This was announced by the Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov during the meeting with the Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority H.E. Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji in Doha, according to the Ministry’s press service.

The Minister noted that increasing the tourist flow is possible by increasing capacity and expanding direct air routes, including through the two countries’ tourism and transport hubs. In Russia, these primarily include Sochi, St. Petersburg, and Kazan, where Halal and Muslim-friendly standards have been introduced.

Qatar supported Russia’s proposal to establish a working group on tourism within the Russian-Qatari intergovernmental commission. The first meeting could take place in May during the KazanForum. In the near future, the parties are preparing to sign an agreement on developing cooperation in tourism.
