Preparation for the KazanForum 2026 was discussed during the meeting with OIC ambassadors

The annual meeting of the leadership of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World” with ambassadors of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member states took place at the Reception House of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow.
The event was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and other officials.
The meeting participants summarized the Group’s work for 2025 and discussed plans for the current period, including preparations for the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” in 2026.
Sergey Lavrov emphasized the Group’s significant role in developing Russia’s cooperation with the Islamic world, noting the potential for collaboration in culture, education, and science, as well as active contacts between the clergy and public organizations.
Rustam Minnikhanov announced that an international media forum for OIC countries representatives is planned within the KazanForum 2026. Technological challenges faced by journalism, including in the countries of the Global South, will become the main topic of discussion.
According to Marat Khusnullin, the Forum’s business program will include issues of construction and post-conflict rehabilitation, as well as the development of the “North-South” and “West-East” international transport corridors.
Taliya Minullina, Chief Executive of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, noted that the Forum will include the Congress of Ministers of Culture of OIC, and the Opening Ceremony of the “Kazan – Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” Year. Representatives from several countries have already confirmed their participation in the event.
