A press conference was held in Moscow, dedicated to the 17th International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum”, which will take place in Kazan from 12 to 18 May.

The press conference was attended by Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation; Taliya Minullina, Chief Executive of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency; and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

The meeting participants discussed the Forum’s programme, key topics, as well as areas of economic co operation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world. To date, representatives from 93 countries and 56 regions of Russia have submitted their applications to participate in the Event. The largest delegations are expected from Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Senegal, and a number of other countries. The business programme is scheduled to last three days and includes 143 sessions across 20 topics: international co operation; Islamic finance and investment; the halal industry; transportation, culture; and others.

Alexander Stuglev noted that co operation with Islamic states is taking on particular strategic importance for Russia as a new multipolar world takes shape. “As before, the Forum will showcase projects that deepen the economic independence of our countries,” he emphasised.

“The bilateral conferences that are generally hosted as part of KazanForum enjoy great popularity among the business community. Entrepreneurs want to enter specific markets and meet potential partners there, as well as gain knowledge of what certificates are required to begin co operation,” Taliya Minullina, Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, shared. According to her, the busy schedule of overseas visits and negotiations undertaken by Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, serve as one of the key factors contributing to the strengthening of business and friendly relations with the Islamic world.
