Agreements on Restoring Cultural Heritage Sites to be Signed at KazanForum
During a press conference at the Tatar-Inform News Agency, Taliya Minullina, Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, and Ivan Gushchin, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites, announced the signing of agreements across several areas, including cultural heritage sites, to take place on the sidelines of KazanForum.

This year’s Forum will debut a large-scale exhibition of investment and infrastructure projects in Cluster C. The Exhibition will also feature restoration projects. A total of 41 cultural heritage sites have currently been added
to Tatarstan’s investment map, which could later form the basis for exploring hotels and tourism projects.

Most of these sites, 20, are located in the Chistopolsky District; five in the Yelabuzhsky District; four in the Tetyushsky District; two each in the Bugulminsky, Baltasinsky, and Spassky Districts; and one each in the Atninsky, Apastovsky, Zainsky, Kukmorsky, Nizhnekamsky, and Nurlatsky Districts. The Spassky District, for example, includes the main house of the Molostvov Estate amongst its historic properties.

Some of the projects can be implemented using Islamic finance instruments, as all of the former comply with Shariah requirements and are designed to attract partners from Islamic countries.

“I am confident that in today’s economic climate, where one cannot exactly ‘splurge’ with borrowed money, available ready-to-use premises and properties that can be acquired at a low cost are indeed quite attractive,” Minullina said

KazanForum will also feature topical sessions on cultural heritage. A discussion on Muslim historical and cultural heritage as a driver of tourism and regional economic development will be hosted by the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan. Another meeting on the architectural code of the era, dedicated
to the preservation of national identity in modern urban planning, will be organised by the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences.

Registration for the Forum is open until 30 April
