Talent Pool and Business Simulation: Why Students Built a Residential Complex at the IPM Exhibition
A business game "Zastroy-ka: Team Breakthrough" by Ak Bars Dom took place at the International Property Market (IPM) Exhibition and Conference. Sixty people took part, divided into three teams.

This game held particular significance for the IPM exhibition. The forum's main programme traditionally includes roundtables and presentations by professionals, where real industry challenges are discussed – resources, complex negotiations, cultural code, and the balance of interests. The business game complemented this agenda: instead of passive listening, young participants had the opportunity to experience those very same challenges first-hand.

In addition, the organisers used the game as a platform to search for active and talented young people, viewing them as a potential talent pool.

Each team became a development company, within which the participants distributed themselves across departments. Over the course of two hours, they had to develop a residential complex project to a specific technical brief – not under free conditions, but in the format of a rigorous business simulation: the budget, time and number of specialists were strictly limited.

Participants encountered the main problem in the very first minutes – in the game, one must be able to negotiate. Resources had to be divided between departments. Those who tried to solve everything within their own "silo", without building communication with their neighbours, inevitably exceeded the limits by the end and were forced to reassemble the project from scratch.

The teams that won were those that immediately discussed the overall budget across the three departments and sought a joint solution.

In turn, the participants of the game developed a whole set of skills. The organisers place the ability to negotiate, to clarify other people's positions and to balance different interests under conditions of limited resources at the top of the list. Team captains developed leadership qualities, whilst those who delivered the final project presentations honed their public speaking skills.

As a reminder, the International Property Market Exhibition and Conference is taking place on 13–15 May at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre within the framework of the International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum". This year's main theme is the use of artificial intelligence in construction.
