Tatarstan and Uzbekistan Expand Cooperation in Higher Education

The 1st International Forum “The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment” has opened in Tashkent, bringing together around 300 participants from more than 50 countries. The event has attracted representatives of international Islamic organisations, religious scholars, academics and government officials.

Speaking at the plenary session, Farid Mukhametshin, Adviser to the Chairman of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group and Special Representative of the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, highlighted the strong educational cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan. He announced that Tatarstan plans to expand student exchange programmes between universities in the two countries.

The Forum is being held across three cities - Tashkent, Samarkand and Termez. Participants are discussing issues related to education, the preservation of Islamic cultural heritage, the development of science and higher education, as well as the role of the Central Asian Renaissance in world history.
