Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin held a meeting of the organizing committee of the International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum". It was attended by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Presidential Adviser Anton Kobyakov, Presidential Aide Igor Levitin and other members of the organizing committee.

"The development of cooperation with the countries of the Islamic world is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation. The President of the country has repeatedly noted that Russia will always expand and deepen cooperation with the Muslim world. KazanForum should play a key role in strengthening relations between our countries," Marat Khusnullin said, recalling that the forum had previously been held in Tatarstan for 13 years.

According to the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Deputy Chairman of the KazanForum organizing committee Rustam Minnikhanov, representatives of 65 countries and more than 30 subjects of the Russian Federation confirmed their participation in the forum. "This underlines the high status of the forum as the main platform for economic cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world, which is also part of the activities of the Russia–Islamic World strategic vision group. Serious work has been carried out to fill the business program of the upcoming forum: more than 150 business sessions will be held, which will be attended by over 750 speakers," he stressed.

The forum is expected to be attended by delegations from Asia, the Middle East, including Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Egypt, Qatar, UAE, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, etc.

According to Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the KazanForum Organizing Committee, about 75 agreements are planned to be signed as part of the forum's business program. "To date, more than 2,500 participants have already registered to participate in the forum. In the period from May 15 to May 23, a consular post will be organized at Kazan International Airport to support and consult our participants. In general, preparations for the forum are being conducted in the normal mode," Anton Kobyakov added.

The participants of the meeting discussed issues related to the logistics of the forum, security, readiness of business program events, etc. A large cultural and sports program has also been prepared for the guests of the forum.

"I want to note that Russia has always maintained and will continue to maintain honest and respectful relations with the countries of the Islamic world. Today we stand together for the formation of a multipolar, just democratic world. Further strengthening of these relations is our first priority. The rich business program of KazanForum should give a good practical return in all areas," the Deputy Prime Minister summed up.

The International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum" will be held on May 18-19, 2023 in Kazan for the 14th time. In accordance with the Presidential decree, the forum has received federal status since 2023. The business program will include more than 150 events on 16 thematic tracks, including finance, industry, technology, ESG principles, small and medium-sized businesses, medicine, sports, etc. The key task of the forum is the development of economic, trade, socio–cultural relations between Russia and Islamic states.
