On May 21, the ancient city of Bolgar will host the annual solemn event "Izge Bolgar Zhyeny", dedicated to the anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. The holiday will be the culmination of the cultural program of the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum – 2023", which will be held in Kazan from May 18 to 20. More than 11 thousand participants from more than 60 countries of the world came to the forum events.
The organizers of KazanForum-2023 will provide an opportunity to visit the holiday "Izge Bolgar zhyeny" to all its participants. Also, more than 1 thousand delegates of the XII All-Russian Forum of Religious Figures from 72 subjects of the Russian Federation will take part in the celebration. Among them are representatives of the spiritual administrations of Muslims in Russia, near and far abroad. In total, about 40 thousand guests are waiting at the festival site.
One of the main events of "Izge Bolgar Zhyena" will be an exhibition of relics of the Prophet Muhammad in the museum and exhibition complex "Memorial sign in honor of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922". The exhibition will be held on the initiative of the Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Hazrat Samigullin.
"All believers will have the opportunity to see the relics of the Prophet Muhammad," Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Damir Natfullin said during a press conference and said that the relics will be brought on a special flight.
There will also be a collective prayer. The Tauba (prayer of repentance) will be read by the Supreme Mufti of the Russian Federation Talgat Tajuddin.
In addition, a bright cultural and educational program, a concert, an exhibition and sale of products of masters of folk arts and crafts of the Republic of Tatarstan will be presented at the festival site, the final of the belt wrestling tournament, master classes and much more will be held.
KazanForum participants will be able to explore the "Northern Mecca", the Ancient Bulgarian, the place of adoption of Islam as the state religion – a unique archaeological monument, which is the northernmost monument of medieval Muslim architecture in the world. Bolgar is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The central venue of the event is the Kazan Expo IEC.
The operator for the preparation and holding of the event is the Roscongress Foundation, the executive directorate of the operator is the ANO Directorate of Sports and Social Projects.
