KazanForum to celebrate 20th anniversary of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World”

The Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” will celebrate its 20th anniversary on the sidelines of the KazanForum. This was announced by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin at the meeting of the leadership of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” with the ambassadors of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) accredited in Moscow. He noted that in accordance with the Russia’s foreign policy priorities outlined by the President Vladimir Putin, activities on strengthening partnership with Muslim countries based on mutual respect and shared interests are well underway.
“These principles are the basis for building a fair and stable international order. Strengthening mutual understanding and establishing direct contacts between our countries is one of the aims pursued by the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World”,” Khusnullin said.
Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov pointed out that interethnic and interfaith accord had been and remained crucial elements of the centuries-old Russian statehood, having noted the importance of the KazanForum platform for communication and cooperation.
“An important role in developing Russia-OIC partnership belongs to the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” led by Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan. The current year, this platform – truly unique in its representation and subject-matter coverage – celebrates its 20th anniversary,” noted Sergey Lavrov.
Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that at the group’s sites the guests publicly discuss topical issues of the modern cultural and humanitarian agenda, exchange experiences and work out further areas for cooperation. He reminded the participants of the meeting that in a month the capital of the republic will once again become the center of international dialogue playing host to the 17th edition of the KazanForum. “Last year, its business programme involved 8,500 people from 96 countries and 82 regions of Russia, including heads of more than 35 diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow. Let me assure you that this year’s business programme is no less eventful,” stated Rustam Minnikhanov.
A media forum for the representatives of Islamic countries will be held at the KazanForum in partnership with the Republican Agency for Press and Mass Communications Tatmedia along with the Union of OIC News Agencies.
“It is planned to discuss new technological challenges faced by the journalistic community of the world in general and the Global South in particular,” the head of the republic said.
