International Jockeys' Championship and “Business on Horseback” Races to Feature in KazanForum Sports Programme for the First Time

On 16 May 2026 at 18:00, the Kazan Hippodrome will host the “Business on Horseback' horse races and the International Jockeys' Championship as part of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”. The event will bring together top jockeys, leading horse breeding farms and participants from Russia and CIS countries.
The highlight of the evening will be the International Jockeys' Championship – the KazanForum 2026 Cup, featuring representatives from Tatarstan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and various Russian regions. A unique twist of the tournament is the horse draw: jockeys will ride horses provided by the host side, making the competition highly unpredictable and spectacular.
The evening's programme includes eight races and heats, among them: the “Tatar Kanaty” race, the Greater Eurasian Partnership Cup, the Technology Alliance Cup, the Prize in Honour of the “Russia – Islamic World” Forum, the Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Prize in Honour of OIC Member Countries.
Around 40 horses from various Russian regions are expected to take part, including from Stavropol Provice, Moscow, the Chechen Republic, Bashkortostan, Chuvashia, Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, Udmurtia, as well as from Orenburg, Samara, Novosibirsk, Tambov, Penza, Omsk and Ulyanovsk Regions. Leading jockeys including Myrzabek Kappushev, Ruslan Kruglykhin, Aidamir Shegushev and Huseyn Huseynov will take to the track.
Special attention will be on the Arabian race, where a clash is expected between three top horses: Pokra, Voskhod Tersk and Mariscal. In the International Jockeys' Championship, the main intrigue could be the face-off between the favourites Korol RT and Karsaviy. The Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan will see competition from Mister Rossi, Good Humor Man, Georgievsk and Damascus Gold.
Trotting enthusiasts can look forward to three heats, including the final Prize in Honour of OIC Member Countries, featuring 16 prize-breed horses. Favourites include Only You RM from Ulyanovsk, Sagoleo from Orenburg, Padzhero Lok, as well as Bleige Lok and Uniks from Chuvashia.
In addition to the sporting programme, Forum guests will be offered exhibitions, photo zones, interactive areas and entertainment activities. Prize-giving ceremonies will take place after each heat or race, with attendance by honorary guests of the Forum.
“The first equestrian competition at KazanForum 2026 will be one of the highlights of the Forum's cultural and sports programme, bringing together horse breeding traditions, international sporting dialogue and the atmosphere of a grand celebration,” said Taliya Minullina, Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency and member of the Forum's Federal Organising Committee.
Not only KazanForum participants but also residents and visitors of the city can attend the races. Admission to the stands of the Kazan Hippodrome on that day will be free.
