Ghana Expresses Interest in Co-operation with Russia in Education
14 May“Education is our primary focus. We focus on engineering and agriculture. Thanks to KazanForum, we are gaining opportunities for further international co-operation. It is a great honour for us,” he said.
John Aggrey also stated that Tatarstan is of particular interest to Ghana within Russia. According to him, the country is exploring the prospects for further co-operation with the republic.
Co-operation with Ghana in the field of education is already under way. Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin Tambov State University, reported that joint programmes for teaching the Russian language are being implemented, both online and through language centres in Ghana. Engagement with the country's educational organisations is also taking place through double-degree programmes and academic mobility.
“In addition, we are discussing the possibility of implementing targeted training programmes for Ghanaian enterprises, including for the public sector. And, of course, educational co-operation is being carried out through continuing education programmes: from management courses to pedagogy, creative industries, medicine, and so on,” stated Pavel Moiseev.
He also expressed an interest in developing ties between Russian regions, including the Tambov Region, and Ghana. The establishment of such links facilitates the implementation of joint investment projects and growth in trade turnover.
As part of this year's KazanForum, a round table entitled “Russia – Ghana” was held, bringing together for the first time on one platform the key players shaping economic relations between the two countries. The event addressed topics such as how many students from Ghana Russian universities are prepared to admit under quotas and contracts, how to structure deals between the two states under current conditions, where Russian technologies can meet Ghana's needs, and other issues.
