Winners Crowned at Kazan Hippodrome Races Held as Part of KazanForum
17 MayWith admission to the stands free of charge, a broad audience — including residents and visitors to Kazan — had the chance to watch the finest jockeys and thoroughbreds compete.
The championship drew racing craft masters from across Russia's regions — Tatarstan, Dagestan, Chechnya, Bashkortostan, Mari El, Adygea, Krasnodar Krai and Stavropol Krai — as well as riders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. What set the competition apart was the draw format: all jockeys rode horses supplied by the host side, a twist that made the racing all the more unpredictable and thrilling to watch.
In the first race, run over 2,000 metres for the "Tatar Kanaty" Stakes and featuring horses of the Tatar breed, victory went to the stallion Dulky under jockey Ilnur Vafin.
The stallion Canterville, partnered by master jockey Aidamir Shegushev, claimed the Greater Eurasian Partnership Cup, held over 1,800 metres for thoroughbreds foaled in 2023.
The third heat saw the stallion Citroen Bill H, driven by international-class master driver Eduard Bolshakov, take first place in the Technological Alliance Cup.
Jockey Albert Shaikhutdinov, riding the stallion Voskhod Tersk, won the fourth race — the Prize in Honour of the "Russia – Islamic World" Forum, run over 1,800 metres and open to Arabian horses foaled in 2023 and older.
Over the 1,800-metre distance of the fifth race, the International Jockeys' Championship – KazanForum Cup, held among horses of the Tatar breed, the stallion Slice came out on top, ridden by international-class master jockey Myrzabek Kappushev.
The sixth heat, a 1,600-metre dash for the prestigious "Heritage of Russia" Prize for Orlov trotters, brought the crowd a resounding victory from the stallion Uspeshny Brend, partnered by master driver Gennady Bolshakov.
The stallion Good Humour Man, under master jockey Aidamir Shegushev, took the seventh race — the Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan, run over 2,000 metres for thoroughbreds.
The eighth and final race, the 1,600-metre Prize in Honour of the OIC Member States, also for thoroughbreds, went to the stallion Only You RM, ridden by Irina Kotlyakova, Russia's leading female rider.
The day's total prize fund amounted to 9,000,000 roubles — a fitting reward for speed, stamina and strategy. Each prize-giving ceremony was attended by honoured guests of the Forum, underscoring the significance both of the sporting achievements and of the international cooperation that the occasion represented.
