A meeting of the strategic vision group "Russia — the Islamic World" is taking place in Kazan today, the theme of which is traditional spiritual and moral values as the basis of interreligious cooperation. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants of the meeting. It was read by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin.

"Russia has traditionally had close, trusting relations with Muslim states both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. They are built on the basis of partnership, respect for each other's sovereignty and civilizational identity. We are united by our commitment to the formation of a more just multipolar world order based on international law," the text of the greeting of the head of state says.

The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov noted, speaking, that now there is a complex process of forming a multipolar world. The pattern of development in which several States gained economic and political advantages by exploiting the resources of other countries is undergoing changes. This causes outright rejection of a number of powers that are "used to following the logic of global domination." They use an "extensive arsenal of coercive measures": sanctions, blackmail, threats of the use of military force. One of the forms of interference in the affairs of sovereign states has become the imposition of an ideology that runs counter to traditional spiritual values.

"The collective West sees Russia, its civilized role, independent foreign policy, as a real counterweight to Western hegemony. That is why the United States and its allies used Russia's actions in the Ukrainian direction as a pretext for a new round of Russophobia, imposed sanctions against us and unleashed a hybrid war," Minnikhanov said.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia noted that Orthodox and Muslims strongly reject the Western tendency to believe that a sinful life is one of the possible variants of human behavior.

"We are conservative in our views, we stand for strengthening family values, love for our neighbor, for the Motherland. For us, unlike Western countries, it is categorically unacceptable, for example, the popularization of LGBT communities. In Western countries, they have forgotten that there are Divine commandments. For them, human passion and sins are more important than God. And for us, Russians, fundamental values are the most important, and therefore we are stronger," Patriarch Kirill noted.
