KazanForum 2025 to Host Young Chefs International Tournament
02 AprilMore than 100 participants are expected at this year’s tournament in Kazan: young chefs under the age of 25 from different countries –– Malaysia, Morocco, Russia, Senegal, Tunisia, Turkey, and others. Together with their mentors, chefs from famous restaurants, they will prepare a three-course set using only the products that represent their native countries. In the final round, each of the participants will unveil their dishes to the international jury. The meals and their composition will be rated by a judging committee consisting of experienced chefs and heads of restaurant associations from different countries. The winner of the Grand Prix 2024 was Redouane Ouadidou, a chef from Morocco.
“Our tournament has a unique format. This is the first such competition in the world when the dishes prepared by the finalists are later sold to guests. Traditionally, only the judges do the tasting at all known competitions. Here, however, restaurants will collaborate with young chefs and prepare their tournament dishes. Each bento-box contains an appetiser, a main dish, a dessert, and a drink, offering to sample national cuisines,” Mikhail Sharipov, Head of the Tournament Management, said.
In addition, the participants of this year’s international judging panel –– members of the boards within the associations of restaurateurs and hoteliers of their respective countries –– plan to sign the first ever Memorandum on Preservation and Development of Gastronomy in Rural Settlements. The Memorandum aims to address the talent drain from the regions, small towns and villages.
