Russia Leads in Exporting Digital Products for Smart Cities

Russia dominates the world as a supplier of software.

This was reported by Dmitry Kulakovsky, Head of Global Business Development at OOO ‘‘VISIONLABS’’, at the XVI International Forum ‘‘Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum’’ following the session ‘‘Export of Digital Products for Smart Cities: From Idea to Entering the Global Market’’. He stated that Russian companies have introduced many solutions to the market over the past 5–6 years.

‘‘What we currently have is that many Russian solutions are best-in-class across the world. We cannot be more proud that domestic developers have a strong presence in this direction. Not only Russia does not import anything, it, by contract, exports the most advance developments all over the globe. Other cities with a million-plus population worldwide come here to see what has been implemented in Moscow and major cities of our country,’’ says Dmitry Kulakovsky.

According to him, the key market now is the Middle East; the company sees great potential in South-East Asia. There is also potential in African countries, especially in South and Central Africa. ‘‘They are eager to digitalise, to implement solutions and services similar to those used in Moscow. All these regions provide very good opportunities in terms of export operations,’’ says Dmitry Kulakovsky.

Vladimir Platonov, President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that the capital city of the Russian Federation is ahead of many countries when it comes to digitalisation. The authorities are the ones requesting the projects done. As a result, citizens receive many public services on an on-going basis; security is ensured and crime is countered more effectively; transport system is improved; and so on.

Maxim Smirnov, Deputy General Director of IVA Technologies, opined that the export of digital products is currently one of the key areas of work for Russian companies. At the same time, businesses feel supported by the authorities. ‘‘Indeed, it is acknowledged that Russian platforms, systems, and other developments are very much in demand today,’’ says Maxim Smirnov.

Alongside the countries listed by the Top Manager of VISIONLABS, the Deputy General Director of IVA Technologies singled out Latin America as promising for export.
