Islamic Finance will be Discussed in Kazan

Experts and financial market participants will discuss the development of the Islamic banking and Islamic economics pilot project, as well as challenges and problems in implementing the project, current issues, initiatives, and legislative changes.
Islamic finance is one of the most dynamically developing sectors of the global economy, attracting billions of dollars in investment. The Republic of Tatarstan is among the Russian regions actively developing this sector.
From September 1, 2023, to September 1, 2025, an experiment on Islamic (partnership) financing products is conducted in four Russian regions: Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Dagestan, and Chechnya. In summer 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law extending the experiment until September 1, 2028.
The first workshop in Kazan took place on November 15, 2023. It demonstrated high interest in this topic from both the public and the financial institutions.
The workshop on Islamic (partnership) financing products will be held on September 11, 2025, at 10:00 in Tatarstan Investment Development, located at 11 Agronomicheskaya Street, Kazan.
Representatives of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, market and Islamic clergy participants are invited to the meeting. The meeting is being organized by the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.
“We meet annually to coordinate our stances. Participants in the Islamic finance experiment consider the Agency an effective platform for exchanging opinions on the need to refine legislation and discussing interim results,” noted Taliya Minullina, Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.
A press conference for the workshop speakers will be held after the meeting. Participation will include both in-person attendance and online streaming on the Agency's VK social media channel.
