Malaysia counts on Russian assistance in developing the digital economy

Cooperation between the countries has its own characteristics and the International Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum" is the most important platform for strengthening friendly relations. This was stated by representatives of the state at a press conference.

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed between Russia and Malaysia. Representatives of the Malaysian authorities suggest that the document will expand opportunities for both countries. In their opinion, cooperation with Russia should be taken to a new level.

"Malaysia looks at Russia as a special technological partner, because it is a country with the most modern technology and capabilities, which is ready to help other countries make progress," said Malaysian Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Mohammad Sabu.

The Russian government is trying to develop a line of halal products, thereby increasing communication and deepening engagement with Malaysia.

Speakers from Malaysia said they expect Russia to help identify important new development vectors in robotics, satellite industry and satellite development, as well as in the education segment for the aerospace industry.

"Digital technology will play a key role in Malaysia's economy. 25% is the level of digital economy contribution that Malaysia plans to achieve in the economy as a whole. We have selected 9 sectors to make a major contribution to the digital economy. They are agriculture, trade, services, tourism, smart cities, healthcare, creative industries, creative industries including animation. We hope that Russia can share its knowledge and experience in digital technology with us," said Fadzli Abdul Wahit, Senior Vice President of Digital Industry Development, Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation.
