Health Protocol for Chefs to be Developed in Kazan
Health Protocol for Chefs to be Developed in Kazan
14 MayOne of the central elements of the cultural programme will be a procession of participants along Bauman Street. Young chefs from 18 countries will carry their national flags along the city’s main pedestrian thoroughfare and lay flowers at the monument to Musa Jalil. This gesture symbolically links the tournament to the poet’s anniversary and underscores Kazan’s status as a cultural capital, where international dialogue is built not only through forums but also through gastronomy, art and shared values.
An important part of the business programme will be an international roundtable dedicated to health in the culinary profession. The discussion, titled “The Price of the Profession: Chef’s Health as the Industry’s Main Resource”, will raise issues of high workloads, professional burnout and employer responsibility. The discussion will involve chefs, restaurant industry representatives and medical specialists. The goal is not only to highlight the problem but also to develop concrete solutions, as many chefs are forced to end their professional careers early due to health issues and high physical demands.
Key message: as a result of the roundtable, a health protocol for chefs is to be developed and presented. This document will contain recommendations for preserving the health of professionals and methodological guidelines for a conscious approach to work: break schedules, posture, warm-up exercises and other aspects of occupational hygiene. According to Mikhail Sharipov, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Tatarstan, the aim is to initiate the process of implementing these recommendations within the professional community, so that the chef’s profession becomes healthier in the long term.
A separate strand will be open masterclasses, held daily during the tournament. Anyone can come and watch how traditional Tatar dishes are prepared –echpochmak, chak-chak, umach and others. The masterclasses will involve bloggers, speakers, Tournament participants themselves, as well as children with disabilities. This format makes the programme more open and brings together people with different experiences around the kitchen and traditions.
Thus, the Tournament is becoming not only a platform for professional development but also a space for cultural exchange, discussion of important industry issues, and involving a wide audience in the world of gastronomy.
