Island-town of Sviyazhsk is the ancient stronghold, built in the Middle Ages during the reign of Ivan the Terrible, served as a military outpost in the Volga region and a place of rest and training for military units to march on the impregnable fortress of Kazan. The Island-town of Sviyazhsk is famous for its history, the spirit of Orthodox culture, the beauty of the natural and urban landscape. On the island, you may visit unique monasteries: Bogoroditse-Uspensky (Assumption) Monastery and St John the Baptist Monastery with the most ancient church of Tatarstan.

A visit to the Bolgar Historical and Architectural Museum and Reserve – “Bolgar Settlement”. Visiting all the sites that have been preserved on the territory of the ancient settlement: the Cathedral Mosque, the Eastern and Northern mausoleums, the Khan's tomb, the Small Minaret, the Black Chamber, the White Chamber, the Khan's bath, the Khan's Palace. A visit to the Commemorative Sign, built in honour of the official adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922, where the largest Quran in the world is kept. A visit to one of the most significant buildings of the architectural heritage of Tatarstan – Ak Mosque (White Mosque).
