Issues of medical tourism development in Russia and the OIC countries, as well as issues of medical halal services provision were raised during the session.
The federal project “Development of medical services export” has been making a significant contribution to the process of international integration in the field of healthcare and the development of medicine since 2019. To date, the following results have been achieved in terms of key indicators of the project: the number of treated foreign citizens as of the end of 2022 on an accrual basis amounted to 1.2 million people; increase in the volume of exports of medical services as of the end of 2022 with an accrual total amounted to USD 729.94 million. Top 5 countries showing the greatest interest in medical services provided on the territory of the Russian Federation by the OIC countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, set the task to join the top five leading countries in the field of medical tourism.
The following areas and profiles are mostly in demand in the field of medical tourism: check-up, transplantation, oncology, neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology, obstetrics and gynecology, traumatology and orthopedics, dentistry, ophthalmology, surgery, including cardiovascular surgery, urology.
Halal medical tourism is an additional package of services or additional services rendered and provided to meet the needs and requirements of Muslim tourists who seek medical treatment during a religious tour.
