«The Agency for Strategic Initiatives specializes in the promotion of new projects, and the search for and support of projects to usher in systemic changes in the social and economic spheres. The Office of International Relations has the task of supporting projects targeting international markets, the so-called Go Global portfolio: the bulk of the projects are focused on advanced solutions, including automation, robotics, drones, energy efficiency, green technologies, waste recycling, smart cities and, of course, industrial digitalization, artificial intelligence and much more,” Mikhail Makarov, director for the ASI Office of International Relations, said in opening remarks.

The entrepreneurs presented nine innovative solutions capable of reforming an individual sector and improving living standards. Several projects offered solutions to upgrade medicine. This, a navigation system for surgery based on augmented reality technology and a startup at the intersection of medicine and cybersports aimed at introducing neural interfaces for neurorehabilitation and neurogaming were presented. The latter can be used mainly in arcade games, as well as in the fight against post-COVID syndrome, PTSD, insomnia, etc.

CEO and co-founder of the AsistI platform, a board member at the Russian Association of Robotics (RAR) and head of the Technology Transfer Center at MTUCI, Bogdan Ragulin, presented a stroke recovery project using AI technology. The speaker cited data from the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) according to which 450,000 people suffer a stroke every year. As many as 31% of stroke patients need help in to taking care of themselves, while 20% cannot walk independently. At the same time, public losses are estimated at 499.4 billion rubles ($5.5 million). Among the main problems are an insufficient availability of rehabilitation services, a lack of medical personnel and a lack of control over the implementation of rehabilitation exercises. The project will enable patients to exercise at home on their own as it envisages a special program for demonstrating movements and tracking performance. The results will be transmitted directly to the attending physician. One of the experts, Alexey Taranov, head for technology entrepreneurship at Kazan-based IT Park, expressed the desire to support the project.

Other startups were related to fire robotics, 3D weaving, ship navigation and monitoring of oil and gas pipelines, floods and earthquakes, soil microbiome management, intensification of oil production, as well as an ecosystem of online services for goods and services in the halal industry.
