The Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group was established in 2006. It acts as an advisory body promoting the expansion of cooperation between Russia and Islamic countries. The Group is a platform for consultations of social and political figures, business circles, representatives of the scientific community and clergy who have authority and influence in their countries.

The Strategic Vision Group includes 34 prominent statesmen and public figures from 28 foreign countries, including current and former prime ministers, former foreign ministers, a number of important theologians of the Islamic East from Indonesia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait.

Tatarstan Rais (President) Rustam Minnikhanov said at the beginning of the meeting: "At present, the role of the Group has become particularly important. The Group has become a supporting structure in the relations between Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a tool for strengthening friendship, mutual understanding and trust. In addition, the Group is a unique platform for interreligious dialogue at the global level, aimed at the protection of traditional spiritual and moral values, direct dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Islamic world."

The development of cooperation with Muslim countries is one of the priorities of Russia's foreign policy, Marat Khusnullin, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the 15th International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: Kazanforum," said. "The Russian people have always been in favor of peaceful coexistence. Islam is an indigenous faith for millions of Russians, together with other traditional religions it has influenced the formation of a unique Russian civilization, where a large number of representatives of many peoples live in peace and harmony," he said.

Russian Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev pointed out: "The president's address to the Federal Assembly this winter included the thesis that Russia has been and remains a stronghold of traditional values on which human civilization is built. Our choice is shared by the majority of people in the world. Our common values are the foundation on which a more just and democratic world order can be built."

Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky emphasized that "the strengthening of partnership, friendly relations in the format of Russia - Islamic world is the most important joint decision leading to a multipolar world, which we are building together on the basis of international law and fundamental principles of the UN." According to him, this format opposes political pressure from those who want to build a unipolar world, where all decisions about development, about building life, will be made in one place. "Such a destructive approach has already passed the point of no return. Today, only multipolarity is possible, where each country, its people, history, tradition, culture, religion, national language can become a separate center of influence with a peaceful, prosperous territory. The Islamic world today is the most important strategic factor in the formation of a multipolar world, which means further stable development of world civilization," Slutsky concluded.

The 15th International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024" is being held on May 14-19 in Kazan. This year's keynote is "Trust and Cooperation." The main goal of the forum is to strengthen trade and economic, scientific and technical, social and cultural ties between Russian regions and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as to promote the development of the Islamic financial system institutions in Russia.
