Time and date: May 16, 1:00 p.m.
Egyptian, Turkish and UAE experts discussed the expansion of the halal products market, interaction within the private sector and trade organizations in this area at the “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum” international economic event. The participants noted the prospect of promoting halal products in non-Muslim countries, and developed recommendations for stronger cooperation, including a proposal to apply unified quality standards.
The panel included Dr. Mohamed Sheha, ICHS Commercial director; Ashraf Al Tanbouly, CEO of Islamic Chamber Halal Services; Mr. Yunus Ete, Chairman World Halal Summit Council; Professor Halima Khunoethe, Academic, Author, Senior Government Strategist, Chair BRICS + partners Women in Business Alliance (WBA).
"Consumers want to be able to buy halal goods in stores. So, our job is to satisfy the Muslim population, which makes up a very significant percentage of our planet," said Mohamed Sheha.
"I am confident that after five years I will be able to go to any country and get a hotel room that meets halal standards, any airline will provide me with halal food on board. And it will not necessarily be a Muslim country. <...> Governments are beginning to pay more and more attention to this. The market is certainly evolving in line with consumer expectations and demands," said Ashraf Al Tanbouly.
"Optimizing our partnership is crucial. We cannot achieve significant results and success without partnership. It becomes the strategic direction of our work. <...> Our goals are active stabilization of partnerships both locally and internationally, creating alliances that help to promote products, use innovative approaches on a global level," said Halima Khunoethe.
"Russian market is a market with highly positive development momentum. Many opportunities are opening up here for the production and realization of halal goods. <...> We must do everything to unify our standards, because then we can make it easier for [our products] to enter international markets," said Yunus Ete.
