At the session "50 Years Ahead: Creating a Training System for the Halal Industry" the Mufti of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, Albir Krganov, explained the relevance of the halal industry agenda for Russia.

"Scholars and experts mention some impressive statistics illustrating the upsurge in demand for halal products and services in our country and abroad. It looks like we have coped with the first stage of shaping this market in Russia. Certain experience has been accumulated. <...> In conformity with our turn eastwards Russian legislators have been taking steps to amend the related laws," he said.

Marat Nizamov, the head of the Center of Competence in the field of halal products and services, presented his market analysis.

"The industry’s growth rates will range 9%-12%. In 2024, the market is likely to reach 1.97 trillion dollars, and the export of halal products from Russia will increase 3.5 times by 2030".

Marat Nizamov also highlighted some of the industry’s problems in Russia: the lack of a federal state educational standard and of professional standards of specialists' activities and the low availability of educational products in the field of halal products. Today there are several courses for training qualified specialists: "Halal Basics", "Halal Slaughtering" and "Halal Hospitality".

The experts shared their vision of how the halal industry may be developing over decades to come and agreed that it was necessary to introduce a single standard for halal products worldwide. It may be necessary to create a separate organization for this purpose. Almaz Kaiyrbekov, the head of the State Institution "Center for Halal Industry Development", suggested introducing national Halal certification marks to facilitate the identification of goods in the Eurasian Economic Union.
