As part of strengthening Russian-Malaysian cooperation, the speakers addressed a number of topics stressing the importance of advanced technologies, tourism and interregional ties for taking bilateral relations to a new level. Particular attention was paid to the role of humanitarian ties, culture and tourism in economic interaction between countries. “There are areas for cooperation in the field of high technology and modern industry. We are aware of Malaysia's plans to become a global high-tech center and are ready to cooperate in this area. When implementing joint projects, we are ready to share our developments and know-how with our partners. The development of cooperation between the regions of the two countries also seems promising,” Nail Latypov said in his video greeting.

Agriculture and food security were key drivers of cooperation, with an emphasis on the prospects and opportunities for cooperation in the agricultural sector and in the field of green energy. “First of all, we see great potential for increasing trade turnover with Malaysia. Now Russia supplies Malaysia mainly with mineral products (91.1%), chemical industry products - fertilizers, metals, as well as food products. In turn, we import food from Malaysia - palm and coconut oil account for a large share of it. We also buy electronic products, clothing and shoes from Malaysia. We can increase the export of mixed fertilizers to Malaysia. We know that stable supplies of fertilizers from Russia are of great importance for the development of such a crucial sector of the Malaysian economy as the production of palm oil. We see great potential, and what is very important, interest on the Malaysian side for increasing exports of agricultural products to Malaysia, in particular wheat, sunflower oil, as well as meat products,” Dmitry Vakhrukov said.

The participants also discussed the role of tourism in the economic development of the North Caucasus and the prospects for deepening cooperation on science and higher education, including through research projects and business cooperation.

“Indeed, very important results have been achieved. The Kazan Forum is an important platform, and we see interest in education. We have four universities represented, each of them plays a role in terms of interaction with Russian universities. Of course, this is an exchange of knowledge. Of course, these are lectures that are given in the Kazan Federal University,” Dato' Loon-Lai Cheong said.
