"Vladimir Putin has set a task of increasing the share of the tourism industry in the country's GDP from 1.5% to 3%, and further to 5%. The goals are very ambitious. The export of tourist services is expected to triple. We are to increase the number of guests and locations. Many domestic tourists and the main share of tourists from abroad are Muslims. We are obliged to provide them with comfortable conditions so that in any Russian city it would be possible to mark the outlets, hotels and restaurants that would meet their religious requirements," explained Maxim Protasov, the head of Roskachestvo.

Tagir Bikchantaev, the Mufti of the Centralized Religious Organization Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Kemerovo Region, spoke about the need for creating a single global or Russian organization that would adhere to a single standard for halal products and services. He added that non-believers were also interested in the industry’s services, because it was a symbol of quality and honesty.

The speakers also shared practical recommendations for the successful adaptation of services to Muslim-friendly requirements and attracting new audiences. Ihsan Ovyut, the Secretary-General of SMIIC, spoke about the introduced categories for determining whether a product/service was halal:

"For example, the first category is suitable for absolutely all Muslims: it concerns hotels, weekend retreats and so on. It requires, for example, separate swimming pools, as well as compliance with other rules. There is, for example, level C: Muslims can stay in a regular hotel on the condition the hotel can provide halal food as needed."
