Family businesses often serve as the foundation of the economy, contributing significantly to job creation, tax revenues and overall gross product. They represent a cultural and economic heritage passed down from generation to generation, helping to preserve traditions and stimulate innovation. Supporting and developing family businesses contributes to the growth of a country's economic potential, strengthening the social responsibility of business and building a sustainable economic system. The session was devoted to the discussion of international practical experience in the development of family entrepreneurship as one of the key brands of any national economy for domestic and foreign markets, existing problems and challenges in the development of this sector of the economy, tools and mechanisms of state support.

Vice-President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Elena Dybova shared the percentage of family businesses in Russia: "More than half of our companies are first-generation family businesses. Almost 37% of companies are two-generation businesses. Now one in ten companies is a three-generation business together with the founding fathers. A total of 95% of private schools and kindergartens, 85% of service companies, 80% of hotels - these are all family businesses. And the number is growing. Nearly two-thirds of private medical clinics are also family-owned. Every second bakery is also a family business."

Russian Deputy Federation Council Chairman Inna Svyatenko spoke in a video message about the forms of starting a family business: "At the present stage, the state is creating all conditions for the revival of family business dynasties. One of the forms of starting a business, including a family business, is a social contract. Only in 2023, 95,000 social contracts were concluded for the opening and development of their own business. Today, about 74% of small and medium enterprises are family businesses, which employ spouses and relatives. More than half of them have a turnover of up to 500 million roubles. 55% of them are first-generation family businesses. Experts estimate that 99% of agricultural products in our country are produced in family farms."

UAE Deputy Economy Minister Abdullah Al Saleh touched upon the importance of the state's involvement in protecting family businesses through legislation. According to him, the state should support family businesses, including with the establishement of an appropriate legal system. It is important to create a mechanism that will help family businesses.

This is 1.2 times more than in 2021. In terms of these indicators, a significant share is held by family businesses."

Our company respects the traditions of our country even while doing international business."

Director of Engineering and Production Center LLC Olga Aiduganova shared the problems faced by the heirs of family businesses: "There are a number of questions to which we are looking for answers. When children want to inherit the business, there isn’t always clear inheritance procedure, high amount of bank commissions when transferring to individuals, amount of bank commissions when paying dividends, conditions for creating inheritance funds, receiving support measures and credits, there are certain risk factors when there are several types of activities."

Founders of Mechta LLC Olga Popenova and Vladimir Popenov spoke about the importance of mutual understanding in running a family business: "We are together 24 hours a day. This has surprised many people, but it has helped us. We set a good example for our children. A family business is a different culture. You wake up in the morning with your family. Our granddaughters go to forums with us. They want to continue our business in the future."
