Rustam Minnikhanov discussed foundation of the BRICS stock exchange

In the course of his business trip to Moscow, the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan met Igor Artemiev – President of the Saint Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange.
The parties discussed the key focus areas of the stock exchange and stressed the importance of developing exchange trade, particularly in the context of expanding the cooperation with the Islamic world countries. Special attention was paid to the creation of the BRICS stock exchange – project initiated by the Russian President Vladimir Putin at the XVI Summit in Kazan. Tatarstan is deemed as the key platform for cooperation with the Eastern countries in the course of the BRICS stock exchange formation.
The development of Islamic finance and international economic partnership is one of the key topics of the business programme of the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”. As part of the forum, on 15-16 May Kazan Expo will be hosting the session on Islamic banking instruments, stock exchange mechanisms, and attracting investments from OIC countries as well as the issues of Islamic finance education.
