At the international business forum “World of Opportunities: Russia - ASEAN” in Kuala Lumpur, it was proposed to create a joint group on halal tourism between Russia and ASEAN countries, especially with Malaysia. Aidar Gazizov, Director General of the The International Center of Halal Standardization and Certification of the Russian Muftis Council, noted the importance of preparing infrastructure, including halal food and hotels, to meet the growing flow of tourists from the Arab-Muslim world.
“It is extremely important for Russia to have its partners in ASEAN countries, and the development of halal tourism in countries with large Muslim populations is beneficial to both us and them. In recent years, the tourist flow from countries of the Arab-Muslim world has sharply increased in the Russian Federation and for the Russian side it is necessary to prepare all the necessary infrastructure, in particular, halal food, hotels that are ready to receive guests according to the rules of Islam. It should be noted that Russian tourists have started to visit more Muslim countries,” Gazizov said.
