Rustam Minnikhanov: Russia Offers Equal Partnerships with the Islamic World
Now Muslim countries are facing many internal and external problems, including terrorism, Islamophobia, inequality, the problem of preserving their values and identity in the conditions of globalization. As a counterbalance, Russia offers the Islamic world equal relations, Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World”, the Rais of Tatarstan, said at the meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

He emphasized that relations with Muslim countries will be developed in different areas: in trade and investment, culture, education, youth policy, science and others. This will not only strengthen relations between the parties, but also contribute to sustainable development and international security. This will be facilitated, among other things, by Malaysia's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025.

“A significant factor in strengthening relations between Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is international youth cooperation. We are carrying out this work together with the OIC Youth Forum. Children's and youth projects, based on friendship and common values, eventually become the basis for building a multipolar and sustainable world,” emphasized the Chairman of the group.

For example, an international network of school diplomacy clubs is being developed, through which teenagers from different countries make new friends, learn about each other's traditions and language and culture. More than 200 schools in 20 countries have now been established.

“Tatarstan was one of the initiators of the establishment of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World” in 2006. A lot of work has been done to strengthen ties between our country and the Muslim states,” Rustam Minnikhanov continued.

He reminded that the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” is held annually in the capital of Tatarstan. In 2024, more than 20 thousand representatives of 87 countries became its participants. The activities of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World” also make a great contribution to this direction. Kazan Global Youth Summit with the participation of youth ministers and young leaders of the OIC countries is being organized. “We will be glad to welcome you and your delegations to these events next year,” Rais of Tatarstan concluded.
