Baharesh Bagherian, the developer of master plans for zero-emission in smart cities, is confident that sustainable urban development is the most important direction. It is important to focus oneself on comfort for people when making decisions on construction of modern areas of the city. Every resident shall have access to all the resources of the city and move around on foot and by bike, not making travel time too long. It seems impossible today to get rid of cars, but there is an alternative - shuttles (buses with an electric motor).
Dr. Dalbir Singh, President of the Foundation for Policy and Governance, Chairman of the One Globe Forum, Senior Advisor of the Forum of Federations said that India's national mission is 100 smart cities; the Government of India has developed a program to create a network of smart cities with a focus on convenience of the citizens and sustainable development. India is becoming a more urban country requiring the development of a comfortable environment. An important task is to improve transportation networks, public spaces, infrastructure and housing. It is very important that all residents are involved in the development of smart cities.
Dmitry Ivanov, General Director of Videoanalytics, LLC, presented a technology for improving traffic situation and reducing traffic jams through autonomous traffic flows’ management using adaptive traffic lights. He proposes to abandon the fixed mode in traffic lights by equipping traffic cameras with computers.
Aleksey Khudoleiev, General Director of Tractis, LLC, introduced the participants of the session to the technology for optimizing traffic and the route network of municipal transport through implementing a passenger flow counting system. A transport company usually wastes 15-20% of its revenue not taking into account changes in passenger traffic. The application of conventional IP cameras in buses helped to reduce the cost of the introduced technology by almost 2 times. The calculation precision of passenger flow comprises 98%.
Dmitry Kurgalov, co-founder of the company Spektr Bezopasnosti, spoke about the Dozor system developed by the company. It is a technological complex for video fixation of violations at driving on a dedicated bus lane. Over 600 violations were detected in Kazan during 1.5 months.
Sergey Kechutkin, Smart City Division Manager in SITIMATICS, LLC, spoke about the project for organizing paid parking space, which has already been implemented in Nizhny Novgorod, Vladivostok, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Armen Voskanyan, Development Director of Smart C, LLC, presented the Vision Zero product, the purpose of which is to reduce mortality at unregulated road crossings, reduce the number of accidents with cyclists and pedestrians. Vision Zero notifies the vehicle driver that there is a person at the pedestrian crossing. The information board at the pedestrian crossing itself informs also about the pedestrian; in the evening, when a person moves, additional lighting is switched on. This option reduces the number of accidents on the road by 30%, and at pedestrian crossings - by 82%.
Romashova Maria Vladimirovna, Co-owner of Govoryashchiy Gorod, LLC, spoke about measures to increase the accessibility of the urban environment for people with impaired mobility. The radio-orientation system may be a solution herewith. It can be installed on any object and in any means of transport, on a smartphone or on a push-button device. The system is provided with an acoustic beacon informing of the nearest stop, indicating the bus number; the driver will also receive a signal that a blind passenger is waiting at the next stop. The radio- orientation system indicates a color of a traffic light which is on, and enables to press the traffic light button for switching to a green light. 43 regions of the Russian Federation have already connected to this system.
Salvatore de Stefano is sure that people must cooperate in order to reduce emissions of harmful substances and to reduce the travel time when moving around the city; and some definite solutions have already been developed in this respect.
