The first day of the XV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024" began with the district meeting of the Russian Export Center.
Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Alexey Kuzmitsky, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Industry and Trade Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov and Director General of the Innopolis Special Economic Zone JSC Renat Khalimov delivered welcoming speeches.

"In the current conditions, the priority in the sphere of foreign economic activity is to create efficient and safe logistic corridors together with friendly states. Transport corridors connecting the central northwestern regions of Russia with the Ural Region, Siberia, the Far East, and the Republic of Kazakhstan pass through the territory of our district. New logistics chains provide opportunities for cooperation in industry, agriculture, and services," Alexey Kuzmitsky said.

Tatarstan was included in the top 10 regions with the best support for exporters among SMEs, according to the data of the Russian Export Center. "In 2023, 49 export enterprises of Tatarstan received support from the Russian Export Center under six government resolutions. The year before - 42 enterprises. Thanks to participation in the programs, the volume of supported exports last year increased by 8% compared to 2022 <...>. In total, more than 3,000 services were provided to export-oriented enterprises of the republic in 2023. More than 400 SMEs received them, 79 of them signed export contracts. Exports to 65 countries were supported," Oleg Korobchenko said, commenting on the results of 2023.

"Even among friendly Western countries there is a restriction on the use of certain technologies in order to contain them. This is why we are returning to the times of the USSR, when we had to ensure a fully self-sufficient market," Roman Shaikhutdinov said, describing the current situation on the Russian export market.

The XV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024" is being held on May 14-19 in Kazan. This year's main theme is "Trust and Cooperation." The main goal of the forum is to strengthen trade and economic, scientific and technical, social and cultural ties between Russian regions and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as to promote the development of Islamic financial system institutions in Russia.
