Official opening of the International Trade Fair Kazan Halal Market

The International Trade Fair Kazan Halal Market kicked off at the Kazan Agro-Industrial Park. Tatarstan Rais (President) and Chairman of Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic world" Rustam Minnikhanov, Director of Russia’s Federal Center for Export Development of Agro-Industrial Complex Products "Agroexpo" Dmitry Krasnov, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture and Food Minister Marat Zyabbarov, Deputy Minister of Oman’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Ahmed Nasser Abdullah Al Bakri, Deputy Secretary General of Malaysia’s Agriculture and Food Security Ministry Datuk Badrul Hisham Mohd, Tajik Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim, Tatarstan Mufti, Chairman of the republic’s Spiritual Administration of Muslims Kamil Samigullin took part in the event.
The fair was attended by about 100 major manufacturers from Russia and other countries: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Iran and Sri Lanka.
"For the second year in a row, the forum is an event of federal significance. The number of its participants has multiplied, which reflects the importance and necessity of further development of Russia's relations with the Islamic world. Today the world market of halal products is developing very dynamically. In Tatarstan alone there are more than 100 producers of halal products. It is gratifying that these goods are actively exported to the countries of the near and far abroad," Tatarstan Rais (President) Rustam Minnikhanov said.
Nearly 5,000 items are presented at the exhibition: consumer goods, cosmetics, national food products, clothing and household goods.
"By the end of 2023, we will have exported agro-industrial products worth 450 million dollars. About 12 million dollars of this will be halal products. This year we are increasing the plan to 16 million dollars," Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture and Food Minister Marat Zyabbarov said.
Director of Russia’s Federal Center for Export Development of Agro-Industrial Complex Products "Agroexpo" Dmitry Krasnov emphasized that every fifth production in Russia, which operates according to halal standards, is located in the Republic of Tatarstan. The world import of halal products is about 300 billion dollars, and it will continue to grow.
Deputy Minister of Oman’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Ahmed Nasser Abdullah Al Bakri spoke about cooperation with Russia: 68,000 tons of Russian products worth 155 million dollars were imported to Oman. "The total global market for halal products is expected to grow to 3 trillion dollars in the coming years," he said.
The XV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024" is being held on May 14-19 in Kazan. This year's main theme is "Trust and Cooperation." The main goal of the forum is to strengthen trade and economic, scientific and technical, social and cultural ties between Russian regions and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as to promote the development of Islamic financial system institutions in Russia.
