"It is gratifying that the interest in the development of cooperation between the business communities of our countries is growing from year to year. We can see this in the dynamics of trade turnover, if we use the data of Russia’s Federal Customs Service, it was 9.7 billion dollars by the end of 2023. Our colleagues from Uzbekistan are a little more optimistic: they believe that in 2023 we slightly missed the mark of 10 billion dollars - we stopped at the figure of 9.9 billion. We see that the dynamics is positive, it shows the growth of trade turnover in the first quarter of this year, if we compare it with the same period of 2023. Just so that you understand: in absolute figures for January, February, March trade turnover amounted to 2.8 billion dollars and it is almost 17% more than in the first quarter of last year," Russia’s Trade Representative to Uzbekistan Konstantin Zlygostev said.
Khokim (head) of the Jizzakh Region Ergash Saliev noted during the meeting that it is becoming Uzbekistan’s automative region, where localization of production is at a sufficient level. He also named textile industry, metallurgy, IT sector as the drivers of development of the region. "As the head of the region, I invite all investors to allocate their funds and work with our entrepreneurs in these directions, these drivers, which I have highlighted today. Five-six years ago, the number of foreign joint ventures did not exceed 50, today there are more than 220 of them," Saliev emphasized.
"The Tashkent Region is characterized by a high level of urbanization and is a developed region. Investors can count on active government support and a favorable business climate in the region. <...> The key sectors of the region's economy are [among others] textiles, clothing industry. <...> The Tashkent Region has the most attractive investment climate," Head of the Tashkent regional department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdurasul Abdukhalilov said.
